Class 3: Oct. 4 – TOUR – Wild Oats

The marketing director for this whole foods and organic supermarket guided us on a tour around the perimeter of the store – which she explained is usually the healthiest way to shop. The fresh produce, the frozen and bulk items, the dairy, the fresh meats, the fresh breads are often on the perimeter of stores while pre-packaged, processed foods are on the inside. We sampled different items as she explained the concepts that direct her eating choices in the Wild Oats store.

After some free smoothie and juice samples, some of the class shopped. Two women who hadn’t talked much before had a long conversation. I and a gentleman with background in farming discussed brussel sprouts and frost, seasons and crop placement!
