Assignment 4

Busting Boundaries

Assignment #4
Due October 18, 2006

1. We will be visiting several international markets in Nashville during our next class. As we travel, we will each be helping one another learn about the amazing things we are seeing on the tour.

Your job is to research two unique items on the tan cards. When we come across the items you have chosen in a market, you will have the opportunity to explain what they are to the rest of our class.

You may discuss whatever you like, however, we need to know the basics:

What part of the plant is this? How, when, and where does it grow?

What are some of the ways people use this item? Are there important things to know about how to prepare it? Are there any special health benefits?

2. Try a food this week that you have never tried before. Why did you pick that item and who did you eat it with?

3. Can you eat 7 servings of different fruits and vegetables in one day? If you accept this challenge, we want to hear how you did it.

4. Call one CSAs on the following page to find out what produce they offer during the season of your choice. Share what you found with our class.
